I am very pleased to present here the new book “A Simple Guide to the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol“, written by Eileen Laird, author of the popular blog www.phoenixhelix.com. Eileen is the author you can trust, as she personally lived through the autoimmune protocol before compiling the knowledge she obtained into a concise and easy to read format.
In order to proceed with my further presentation, I would like to throw a bit of allegory here by saying that Eileen’s book reminds me of an island of knowledge in the ocean of information. The island that can become a haven for you if you are hit by the tsunami wave called “autoimmune disease”. Don’t get me wrong: there are already several solid “islands of knowledge” available in that ocean, though they might be a better fit for more adventurous explorers.
What makes Eileen’s island stand apart is that it is warm and easily accessible: not only will it welcome you but it will also equip you with enough know-how so that you could continue to explore other islands if you wish to seek further adventures.
What I mean here is that even though there are already several great books written about the autoimmune protocol, they might be a bit challenging for someone who has no medical background. A Simple Guide to the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol does fill this gap by providing a wealth of pertinent information in the form of a simple conversation between friends. Eileen, by the means of her book, will guide you through the whole process with the warmth of your best friend while keeping you reassured when you need it the most. When you get enough knowledge and feel that you are ready to dwell further you can always “navigate” to other books available on the subject.
I personally wish A Simple Guide to the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol was available 2-ish years ago when I initially started on the AIP! Indeed, this book is a perfect fit for someone who is a novice to the autoimmune protocol as it is aimed to make you grasp all the essential information with ease and at a very short time. This smart little book breaks down the autoimmune protocol into easily digestible parts and you can learn all the complexities of the protocol in a day or two, even if you are burdened with a severe brain fog! The best part of this book is that upon reading it you may find yourself referring to it over and over for easy references.
What makes A Simple Guide to the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol a great reference?
It…
- is written in a clear and easy-to-grasp language and contains many useful links and helpful resources
- gives an exhaustive list of foods to eat and foods to avoid
- addresses all the necessary aspects of managing autoimmune conditions such as importance of sleep, managing stress, detoxification and much more
- covers many challenging issues that someone can experience while on the autoimmune protocol (I personally encountered a couple of challenges when I started the AIP and this book could have been a great help to me if it was around at that time)
- is extremely comprehensive for a small book. Moreover, size of this book is its advantage as you can carry it with you wherever you go! Travelling or eating out is not a problem because Eileen’s book will help you make the right choice.
I nearly catch myself on the thought that I envy those of you, who are just starting on the Autoimmune Protocol. You may wonder why? Because this book will make you AIP-savvy in no time as it covers all the aspects needed to get started on the autoimmune protocol, maintain its success and to stay symptoms-free!

I have been trying to stay totally AIP, but sometimes slip up for lack of planning and/or forgetting what I can eat. I would love to win this book, as I do so much better when I have a hard copy of information. I have Hashimotos, plus other health issues, and definitely gluten free, but believe AIP would help me heal more completely. Thank you for the opportunity.

Many people I know have been telling me I need to go grain free and AIP due to my hashimoto’s, numerous food “allergies”, Celiac, and colitis. This book would be extremely helpful, teaching me the ins and outs in simple terms, something I could understand and refer back to, again and again.

I’ve had an extremely tough year. Had c-diff then diagnosed with microscopic colitis. Then diagnosed with hashimotos and then a thyroid cancer scare and getting a partial thyroidectomy. I’m recouping from that now. I’ve been Paleo now for a year and will be more strict AIP soon. I’m exhausted. It seems to be a long road of healing and need all the help I can get. I would love to own this book!
